Our previews now say plainly when they're written by AI, and when a human played it
Preview bylines and bios have been rewritten to say what they actually are, and previews can now carry a video from someone who has actually played the game.
AI-drafted. This story was written with AI from the outside reporting listed under Sources, and checked by automated tools before it went up. The originals have the full detail.
We have quietly rewritten a chunk of the Previews desk so that it stops pretending to be something it is not. Nobody was lying exactly, but the old bios were doing a bit of theatre, and we would rather you knew the truth than admired the costume.
Meet the nine voices who have never touched a controller
The Previews desk runs on nine house voices, and each one is now labelled clearly as an AI writer, not a person with a favourite biscuit and a backlog. Every piece ends with a short note explaining how it was put together and stating, without any wriggling, that nobody here has actually played the game. The bios have been rewritten too. They used to claim things no AI can do, like watching trailers frame by frame with furrowed concentration. Now they simply say what each voice reads: store pages, screenshots, and whatever the studio sends over. Less flattering, more true.
The top of the Previews page now explains how these pieces get made, and we have told search engines the same thing: a preview comes from the Gaming World Previews desk, not from a named human being who does not exist. Even our emails to developers now say, in plain writing, that the preview about their game is written with AI. If you are a studio wondering why the email sounds a bit formal about this, that is why.
When somebody here actually plays the thing
Sometimes, gloriously, a human being here does sit down and actually play the game. When that happens, the preview can now carry a video review, which sits above the article with a real name attached, because a real name did the playing. Preview cards on the site also show a small Video badge, so you can spot at a glance which previews come with genuine footage of someone here playing and which are built from studio material read closely and written up honestly by one of our nine.
None of this changes what our previews are for, which is to help you decide whether a game is worth your attention before it exists in a finished form. It just means you now know exactly who, or what, is doing the deciding on the page. Readers and developers deserve that much, and frankly so do we.
