Gaming World has a Discord server now

Reviews, previews, news and features land there as they go live, writers get their own desk, and studios get a lounge. Here is what is in it and how to join.

Gaming World has a Discord server. Join at discord.gg/PNFqAgVkxu, or from the Discord page, which is linked at the bottom of every page on the site.

What is in it

• From the site. #reviews, #previews, #news and #features fill up on their own as pieces go live. Reply in a thread under any of them.
• Talk. #general, #what-are-you-playing, #indie-finds for games more people should know about, and #emulation-and-handhelds for the retro and portable side. #site-help is where to go if something on the site is broken.
• Writers. The people who write for us have a desk of their own for pitches and editing help. If you would like to be one of them, the join page explains how.
• Studios. #submit-your-game has the steps for getting a game in front of our writers. Developers can also get the Studio role, which opens a lounge. A mod checks you against what you have already sent us first.

The rules, briefly

They are short and pinned in #rules: be decent, keep it about games, and keep it safe for work. The one thing we are strict about is game keys. Never post one in the server. The bot blocks anything that looks like a key, and keys should come to us by email so they reach the right writer.

Joining

Click the invite, accept the rules when Discord shows them, and you are in. New accounts wait a few minutes before they can post, which keeps most spam out. Everything the site publishes still lives on the site. The server is for talking about it, so nobody misses anything by staying away.

Helping out

We are looking for a couple of moderators, ideally in different time zones. If you have looked after a Discord before and would like to help with this one, post in #site-help or send a message to a mod, and we will get back to you.

The server is new, so if a room is missing or something looks off, say so in #site-help and we will change it.
